Debunking 5 Persistent CBD Myths
1. All CBD is the Same
No, all CBD is definitely not the same. Companies use different extraction processes, different compound concentrations–even different plants. Always ask for a Certificate of Analysis to see an exact breakdown of any CBD product before you give it to your pet.
2. CBD Hasn’t Been Proven
CBD has been scientifically proven to work in dogs, specifically discomfort and mobility. In 2017, ElleVet Sciences conducted a study at Cornell University using dogs with these very issues. Over 80% of participants showed positive results when dosed with an ElleVet CBD product.
3. CBD Will Get My Dog High
If a CBD product is derived from hemp and contains below 0.3% THC, it will not get your dog “high” or produce a psychoactive response. THC, the cannabinoid responsible for this “high,” would need to be at a much higher concentration to produce this effect. Products containing high concentrations of THC are not recommended.
4. CBD Products Should Not Contain Any THC
This is also false. A complete-spectrum CBD oil should contain trace amounts (0.3% or less) of THC to unlock more benefits. These compounds are found naturally within the hemp plant, and meant to act in unison. Together these compounds produce a more effective CBD product.
CBD is Illegal
With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp-derived CBD products with less than 0.3% THC are federally legal in all 50 states.
